Masturbation Month - We're feeling ourselves...are you?

In 1994, Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders was fired for suggesting that information about masturbation should be included in sex education courses. Thanks to the Good Vibrations store in San Francisco for backing Elders up , we now have a whole month, every year, dedicated to jerking yourself off.
Like a lot of things in the sex industry, masturbation is still often seen as taboo. Historically it was looked on as being “impure” and as an act that could make you weak, ill and/or insane. There were even treatments and devices to prevent people from masturbating. Nowadays, we’ve come along a bit to see it as a form of self-love, to have health benefits, and that it is, um, normal!
While masturbation is most certainly an all year round thing, dedicating Masturbation Month to yourself is a chance (and a great excuse) to really get to know you. A bit of self love never hurt anyone. It’s fun, feels good, It relieves stress and it’s probably the safest sex you’ll have.
Masturbation is a totally natural part of human sexuality and is also one of the best ways to learn about your body and discover what turns you on...and off. Learning what feels great for you will also help boost your pleasure with your sexual partners.
Nowadays, we don't have to just rely on our hands either, we have a whole tonne of options.

A lot of us are all too quick to hate on ourselves, pick out parts that we don’t like rather than recognising what is great about our bodies and our minds. Use this month to be kind to yourself and recognise that you are FABULOUS!
Set aside some time for you, light some candles, run a bath, set the mood however you like. Just allow yourself to get to know you and practice some self-love in its truest form.
Lots of love,
